Consular Section - Visa Services
Visa appointments are only made using our online visa appointment system located in the visa menu above. Please read the instructions first as they will answer most questions. Emergency appointments may only be granted for serious emergencies.
• Medical or Family Emergency
• Student and Exchange Visitor Facilitation
• ESTA refusal (view refusal requirements)
Write to the consular section at firstname.lastname@example.org. The subject of the email must be “Emergency Visa Appointment Request” or your request may not be processed in a timely manner. In the email explain the nature of the family or medical emergency, or urgent travel. You must provide documentation to support the urgency of your request. This documentation must be included in or attached to the email.
Please note that requesting an emergency appointment does not guarantee you will receive an emergency appointment. You should still make an appointment through the online system for the next available date.
A lack of planning to obtain the proper visa in advance does not constitute an emergency. The risk of missing a booked flight or other travel arrangements is not a sufficient to be treated as an emergency case.
Diversity Visa Lottery
The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program makes available up to 55,000 diversity visas (DVs) annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. To learn about the next DV online registration, visit the Diversity Visa Program Instructions webpage.
Fraudulent websites are posing as official U.S. government sites. Some companies posing as the U.S. government have sought money in order to "complete" DV entry forms. There is no charge to download and complete the Electronic Diversity Visa Entry Form. To learn more, see the Department of State Warning and the Federal Trade Commission Warning.
