Immigrant Visas
An immigrant visa is issued to someone who qualifies to immigrate to the United States and become a Legal Permanent Resident or a US citizen. The US Embassy in Mozambique does not process immigrant visas. However, we can provide information to individuals seeking a petition-based immigrant visa for a Mozambican (usually the spouse or adopted child of an American citizen). We can also accept initial immigrant visa petition forms and fees. The US Consulate General in Johannesburg, South Africa has responsibility for processing all types of immigrant visa applications for Mozambicans. For more information about this process, please visit the US Mission website in South Africa at:

There are other types of immigrant visas, including employment-based visas and the Diversity Lottery, which is sponsored by the US Department of State. For up-to-date information on all types of immigrant visas, please visit the main Department of State webpage at www.travel.state.gov
